Calling All Orca’s!
The 2012 swim season is about to begin. Coach Eric will be returning for another exciting summer. We had a lot of success last year and this years team looks even stronger. Becca Stock and Colleen Flynn will be the new assistant coaches. One thing we as coaches want to stress this year is “involvement”. We will be putting together themes that we hope the whole team can participate in. This goes for you too parents. Don’t be afraid to cheer and dress up.
There are a few changes this
year….
Practice Changes
After hearing a lot of feedback from the swimmers and parents we have decided to move the practices back. Because of this we expect the kids there on time ready to swim at the designated times. We hope this will encourage more people to come to practice and to become involved with the team.
11 and ups will now be from 8:40 to 10:00
10 and under will now be 10 to 11
We know that's early on a Summer vacation, but that's the best time of the day for fun in the water!
Stroke Work
It's hard for the coaches to have time to give each swimmer individual stroke help during the morning team practices. Over the last few years, the coaches have given individual and small group stroke clinics for new racers, and those looking to shave a few tenths off their lap times. We strongly encourage all swimmers to utilize this offer. If anyone needs help learning something please feel free to ask for help. One of the coaches will be available to try to work on the problem after practice.
Volunteer!
In the past, we've had trouble finding help with the swim team. Please volunteer! Any assistance is greatly appreciated. No prior experience is necessary. A smile, willingness to get splashed, and have fun are all that's required!
Team Growth and Bonding
One of my goals this year is for a larger team and more opportunities for friendships to be made. We'll all build on last year's relationships, make new friends, and have a great time in 2012. If you know anyone that might be interested tell them to come up to a practice and check it out. We're glad to have new members!
